Three Versions of Judas 读后

虚构的 Nils Runeberg 针对犹大的第一种说法,

The Word, when it was made flesh, passed from ubiquity into space, from eternity into history, from blessedness without limit to mutation and death; in order to correspond to such a sacrifice it was necessary that a man, as representative of all men, make a suitable sacrifice.

犹大认为自己需要做一种类似的堕落,来「匹配」耶稣的这种牺牲。

第二种说法,认为犹大的出卖绝非来自于贪婪,而是极端到另外一种形式的禁欲,

The ascetic, for the greater glory of God, degrades and mortifies the flesh; Judas did the same with the spirit. He renounced honor, good, peace, the Kingdom of Heaven, as others, less heroically, renounced pleasure.

因此他选择了毫无美德可言的背信弃义和告密(书中举例,通奸会有柔情和自我牺牲,谋杀需要勇气),认为自己下地狱更能 glorify 神的存在,「犹大自找地狱,因为上帝幸福已使他满足。」

最后的说法,上帝为了救赎人类降生为人, 做出的牺牲应当是完全的:

God became a man completely, a man to the point of infamy, a man to the point of being reprehensible - all the way to the abyss.

他选择成为犹大。


博尔赫斯的脑洞往往令人叹为观止,太喜欢这个短篇的调调。特别是当发现第三个脚注中提到的 Vindication of Eternity 的作者 Jaromir Hladík 其实是另一个短篇 The Secret Miracle 的主角的时候。
